The Illinois Office of Broadband (IOB) is expected to issue a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) regarding the Illinois Digital Equity Capacity Grant this fall. Join speakers from the Partnership for a Connected Illinois, IOB and TCA Health Inc. that received recent Digital Equity Capacity Kickstarter (DECK) grants for a discussion of the grant application process, grant requirements and how can health organizations take advantage of digital equity funding to advance health equity.

The Ins and Outs of Remote Patient Monitoring
Join the Partnership for a Connected Illinois and a panel of health care executives and professionals to discuss the core components of building the foundation of a successful Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) program, how to grow and mature the program after initial adoption, and how to sustain it as well as learn about the wide application of RPM across the continuum of care. There will also be a brief panel discussion and time for Q&A.

Youth Mental Health Crisis: Introducting Digital Mental Health Resources in School
This Forum was held on January 29, 2024.
Surging mental health demand among youth and a chronic clinician shortage has resulted in a capacity crisis requiring innovative solutions in schools. Last year the Partnership for a Connected Illinois (PCI) presented an overview of the needs in schools and the emerging digital and supplemental tele-behavioral mental health vendor field for student services. This year we will overview the types of tiered digital mental health resources being introduced in schools nationwide, discuss implementation issues, and share tips to assure effective engagement and impact. A panel discussion, including participants from rural, urban and suburban Illinois school districts, will share their needs, experiences, and lessons learned in introducing these supplemental resources in the ‘23-’24 school year.

Implications of the End of PHE on Virtual Healthcare

With the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (the "PHE") coming to an end on May 11, 2023, many of the waivers and related flexibilities that have made it easier and more attractive to furnish healthcare virtually are scheduled to disappear at various times within the next 2 years. Join our panel as they discuss the PHE flexibilities that have been particularly significant for telehealth, remote patient monitoring and other virtual healthcare services, as well as scheduled expiration dates, the likely impact of the changes, and action steps to consider as the flexibilities wind down.

The Youth Mental Health Crisis: Building Capacity through Innovation & Collaboration in Schools
Tuesday, April 11, Noon to 1:15 pm CT
The Partnership for a Connected Illinois (PCI) has been awarded a grant to plan a pilot of a system to supplement existing behavioral health services to K-12 students. The pilot would expand telebehavioral health services within each tier of a public health model, providing access to self-help resources for parents and students, online behavioral health tools (e.g. skill-building coaches, moderated peer support groups, 1:1 asynchronous chatting), teletherapy, and care coordination. PCI will launch at least 2 pilots in September 2023 and several additional pilots in January 2024

This Webinar was a case study in health system innovation, exploring the real world experience of MercyOne health system in Iowa. Discussion included be the future imperative for health systems to reinvent themselves with bold vision and thoughtful execution. Internal and public-facing digital health strategies and tools were examined—including “Patient Bond,” Innovation Hub” for rural outreach/collaboration, and innovations to address the nurse staffing crisis. Cybersecurity: Privacy and Information Security
This virtual webinar discussed the compliance, privacy, and information security concerns related to telehealth services. It provided an overview of what telehealth looked like before the COVID-19 pandemic and the public health emergency. It also covered some of the changes that occurred with the pandemic and provide insight into what healthcare organizations should be looking out for as the country transitions out of the pandemic. It discussed the enforcement efforts by government regulators tied to telehealth fraud during the pandemic.

Hospital @ Home
Over the course of the pandemic, many health systems have deployed some form of Hospital at Home (H@H) program, but to date, many have been unable to grow their programs to be of sustainable size & scale. This webinar, which took place on March 28, 2022, featured two H@H physician leaders, Dr. Bruce Leff (Johns Hopkins) and Dr. Mark Krivopal (The Chartis Group), discussing some of the approaches they have observed that can help advance a subscale and siloed H@H program into a sizeable, sustainable, and safe integrated site of care.
