Connecting Generations matches tech-savvy high school and college students with area seniors for one-on-one, personalized instruction on computer and internet-related topics,” said Johnna Morecraft, Director of Community & Professional Programs at Lake Land College. “It's an effort to bridge the generational gap between the baby boomers and Generation Z. It’s also a collaborative effort between Lake Land College, East-Central Illinois Development Corporation, U of I Extension offices, and the Helen Matthes Library, where this project was first piloted. Expanding Connecting Generations to other libraries in the region will also increase broadband usage and adoption among the senior population as they gain confidence with the technology.”
