CARTHAGE, Ill., JAN. 16, 2013 -- Western Illinois Technology Services Inc. will host a third annual technology summit on Thursday, Jan. 23, at Sullivan & Son Auction, just south of Carthage on Highway 336.
This year’s event, the “Technology in Your Community Summit”, will be a community forum on integrating technology into homes and small businesses. Registration begins at noon and programs begin at 12:30 p.m.
Topics discussed will include robotics from the Illini West High School Robotics Club, Office 365, Windows 8.1, life in the cloud, social media management, broadband availability in surrounding communities and a demonstration of GIS software.
“The summit is a great opportunity for small businesses, agriculture stakeholders and western Illinois residents to learn about integrating new tools to help them improve their operations,” said Karen Poncin, Operations Manager at the Illinois Institute of Rural Affairs out of Western Illinois University, and an eTeam leader for west central Illinois.
Prior to the afternoon meeting at 9:30 a.m., Poncin said there will be an eTeam meeting for area providers and stakeholders.
“This is the third annual eTeam meeting and has always been used to set the agenda for the region for that year,” she said. “It is an opportunity to talk with providers about needs throughout the region.”
Guests can register for the event at www.westerniltech.org or by calling 217-357-8686. The event is free and open to the public. While RSVP is preferred, no guests will be turned away.
